Bob Lefsetz on Income Inequality
Bob Lefsetz’s Original Post – “Bob Lefsetz on Income Inequality”
I know you probably don’t read and certainly do not reply to emails from your subscribers. But I’ll give it a try anyway.
Your intelligence, insight, and understanding of everything about the music business continues to amaze me. I’m your biggest fan. You live for music, you’ve studied it and experienced it throughout your life, and you understand it in a way few others do and you speak the truth about artists and the industry when no one else dares.
That does not mean you understand politics or economics. I am not going to unsubscribe, because I have learned so much from you about my own profession as a professional musician for more than forty years. I learn something new from every blog post you write about entertainment, music, and the people who create it.
But I cringe every time you use your music blog to preach to us about politics and economics. You absolutely have a right to express your opinions – but I don’t subscribe to hear you attack those on the right and praise those on the left. When it comes to music, you’re a genius IMHO. When it comes to politics, you have a lot to learn and it is offensive to those of us who respect you and enjoy your opinions and analysis of the music industry, but then bludgeon us with your left wing Social Justice Warrior rants.
“Watch Robert Reich’s explanation of economics.
Oh, that’s right, he worked for Clinton, he’s a bad guy, you can’t pay attention.”
No, he’s not a “bad guy” because he worked for Clinton; he’s a lousy source of information about economics because:
“Reich’s resume raises one red flag: He is not an economist but a lawyer”
Reich is worth more than $5,000,000 and earns $242,613 a year as a professor of public policy at the University of California-Berkeley. Not exactly a member of the middle class. His preaching that “if the middle class has money, it spends it, and improves not only the economy, but fattens the pockets of the rich” has been disproven time and again.

And you cannot be serious about this:
“Whereas the left is self-satisfied and sits there and cries that it’s right while nothing happens. As their media organizations are so busy bending over backwards to appear fair that they let the right run away with the ball.”
“Bending over backwards to appear fair”?
That’s insane!
From the liberal New York Times:
“Liberal News Media Bias Has a Serious Effect
News media bias is real. It reduces the quality of journalism, and it fosters distrust among readers and viewers. This is bad for democracy.”

And then there’s this one:
“Rush Limbaugh said the hurricane was a hoax”
Do your OWN fact-checking before you subject your readers to this nonsense. He never said it was a “hoax”. What he said was:
“So there is a desire to advance this climate change agenda, and hurricanes are one of the fastest and best ways to do it. You can accomplish a lot just by creating fear and panic. You don’t need a hurricane to hit anywhere. All you need is to create the fear and panic accompanied by talk that climate change is causing hurricanes to become more frequent and bigger and more dangerous, and you create the panic, and it’s mission accomplished, agenda advanced.”
Hurricane Irma was real, it was big and it was deadly. But we have experienced fewer hurricanes and extreme weather events over the last two decades, not more. Nevertheless, the media and the left use Harvey and Irma promote their climate change agenda and politicize a hurricane to forward their beliefs in global warming and the political agenda that accompanies it.
Music? Please don’t stop – I could read five Lefsetz posts about entertainment every day and still look forward to more.
Personal insights and experiences? Interesting and fun – I enjoy them all.
Politics and economics? You have a lot to learn and your preaching and rants are annoying, uninformed, pretentious and offensive. Please stop!
Or start a new blog for people interested in your left wing ideology. Don’t abuse those of us who subscribe to your music blog.
It would be interesting to see how many people would sign-up for the “Lefsetz Left Wing Politics” newsletter. I might even subscribe, but at least I’d know what I was getting, rather than a bait & switch blog post I thought was supposed to have something to do with music.
Thank you for your sharing. I am worried that I lack creative ideas. It is your article that makes me full of hope. Thank you. But, I have a question, can you help me?

I don’t think the title of your article matches the content lol. Just kidding, mainly because I had some doubts after reading the article.
