Bob Lefsetz’s Original Post – Compassion
“Now wait just a second. There’s a flood in Texas and over a hundred people die and it was an unforeseen act of God, but fire destroys homes in California and the fault lies with the mayor and the fire department and…”
Now YOU wait just a second – you’re telling us that an unexpected flash flood overnight in a canyon far from the city is NOT an unforeseen act of God? You have gone off the rails again, Bobby!
The Los Angeles mayor was visiting in Africa when the Santa Ana winds blew smoke and fire throughout Los Angeles – why should anyone blame her?
“Mayor Bass was attending the inauguration of President John Mahama in Ghana. This overseas trip, which went against a prior promise not to travel internationally while in office. Critics, including former mayoral candidate Rick Caruso, accused the city administration of mismanagement and lack of preparation. Mayor Bass also faced criticism for budget cuts to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), according to CNN. LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley warned that the budget reductions would negatively affect the department’s emergency response capabilities. By the time the mayor landed in Los Angeles at around 11 a.m. on Jan. 8, around 1,000 structures had been burned and more than 70,000 people were under evacuation orders.”
And the fire department certainly isn’t at fault for the Los Angeles fires that lasted for 24 days. But God didn’t drain the reservoirs or cause the hydrants to not work. Nevertheless, there are a lot of people who should share some of the blame and if you ever did any standard journalistic research you would clearly see the difference between these two tragic events.
“To prevent or lessen the damage from the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, state and city governments could have implemented stricter wildfire mitigation strategies, improved emergency response plans, and provided more support for community preparedness. This includes measures like clearing brush, using fire-resistant building materials, and ensuring effective evacuation procedures.”
And what do YOU take away from your ignorant premise?
“I’m not saying I don’t care about the people who lost their lives and their loved ones, but I am saying America has devolved to the point where if it’s not good for me, screw you!”
Then you drop in some of your clichéd rock & roll lyrics, which mean nothing in the context of these tragedies.
“Yes, it used to be different. As evidenced by the Youngbloods hit “Get Together”.
Los Angeles Mayor Bass could have shown some love for the citizens of that great city.
“By the time the mayor landed in Los Angeles at around 11 a.m. on Jan. 8, around 1,000 structures had been burned and more than 70,000 people were under evacuation orders.”
“As for Mamdani…
Are you catching this? The Democratic brass, Silicon Valley and the major news outlets are FREAKING OUT! Instead of evaluating why Mamdani won, they want to take away his ability to change a city whose government is deeply flawed, where it’s too expensive for the average punter to live in Manhattan, and even Williamsburg!”
Change a city? To WHAT? Venezuela?
City-owned grocery stores? Fast, fare free buses? Freeze the rent? No cost child care for all? Raising the minimum wage from $16.50 to $30.00 an hour? $20,000,000 a year for “Baby Baskets”?
This bozo claimed to be both African and Asian hoping to get to the front of the line at Columbia, but they still wouldn’t accept him. People are “FREAKING OUT!” over Mamdani because he is an extreme Democratic Socialist who wants to “globalize the intifada” and has pledged to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if Netanyahu visits New York City. That will surely solve New York’s many problems. So Lefsetz hops on the Mamdani train to oblivion! Your political senses are as bad as ever, Mr. Lefsetz.
“The government may not care about climate change, but the younger generations do.”
And you base this declaration upon WHAT? You never document your claims – your TDS has completely taken you over.
“And then there’s Elon Musk trying to start a third party. Not a bad idea, if he didn’t rape the government willy-nilly with DOGE. He lost the left who loved his cars. Now all he’s got is his bros on X and his AI bot that is literally trained on his tweets!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve checked out.“
So now Elon Musk was trying to “rape the government” by trying to cut out wasteful spending in a country that is $37 TRILLION dollars in debt. There was nothing “willy-nilly” about it. Musk looked at the books and the budgets and tried to trim the fat, waste and abuse. I would hardly call that “rape”.
And you’re losing your audience with your constant political rants stemming from your final stages of TDS – people who once enjoyed reading your entertainment blog never signed up for “Bob Lefsetz – Political Pundit” and soon all you’ll have left for subscribers are your Left Coast progressive bros
“What I mean by this is I read the news, it affects me, but I don’t do anything about it and I don’t expect anybody else to do anything about it. “
You don’t do anything about it? At least 50% of your newsletter blog posts are rabid attacks against anything Donald Trump. But you sure won’t go out and protest or work with and support your left wing progressive political parties. So what do you expect others to do if you won’t practice what you preach?
“Don’t ask me to protest. To show up with a sign. We did that and it had no effect. It’s not 1968, never mind 1972 when the Republican Senators stood up to Nixon, who looks like a left wing saint compared to Trump.”
“We did that”? When did YOU ever do that? All you do is sit in your basement with your laptop and do your best to ferment “riots in the street”!
“And please stop asking me for money. What are you going to do with it, buy TV ads like Andrew Cuomo?”
You could buy TV ads for Mamdani – he’s your guy – show your support!
“But the individual not only has no power, Trump signed a bill that hurts the little guy and gal and the people who are aware of its contents are against it, overwhelmingly, but Congresspeople are afraid of their leader. What next, firings and suicides like in Russia, with Transport Minister Roman Starovoit?”
You have NO idea about what you are bloviating about. The individual DOES have power and that power was expressed in the last election with overwhelming support for Donald Trump. You provide no specifics, no details, no issues or documentation. You just fire off in every direction trying to piss off as many of your readers as possible, because you’re from California and you are SO much smarter than us fools in flyover country.
“I’m lucky. I live in California. You can denigrate it all you want, but it’s the world’s fourth largest economy and you can get an abortion and sure, it’s imperfect, but when you lose your home to an act of God you get more than thoughts and prayers.”
And what exactly have the citizens who lost their homes in Los Angeles gotten so far?
“2,300 homes have been cleared of debris, over 800 homeowners have applied for rebuilding permits, and a few permits have already been approved.”
“Yes, I keep hearing that from those on the left. We don’t fight like they do, we go high when they go low.”
And that’s why you needed 2,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles, because you and your buddies “go high”…? Are you on drugs???
“The January 6th perps got pardoned. So what does the rule of law mean?”
That’s a fair question! Senile old Joe Biden pardoned more than 4,000 people, commuted sentences for murderers and rapists – at least he says he did, while aides made the decisions and used the President’s autopen to pardon thousands of criminals, including his son Hunter Biden and numerous government officials, in advance of any charges.
“And then we’ve got the immigrants as scapegoats. God, you’d think they were an invading force about to take over the government, when the truth is they’re doing all the jobs white citizens refuse to do.”
We are a nation of immigrants – but you and the Democrats promoted, encouraged and funded the invasion of more than 12,000,000 illegal immigrants, many of whom now rely on taxpayer funding for education, housing, food, and education.
“Doing all the jobs white citizens refuse to do?” Racist much? What a hypocrite! Are blacks and Asians rushing to harvest our crops, babysit our kids, do your laundry and landscape our lawns? You welcome illegals into our country so they can work as virtual slaves for little money, traffic in women and children, and bring fentanyl and other drugs into our communities.
Wasn’t that the argument in favor of slavery before the Civil War?
“We need blacks to pick our cotton and work our farms. White people won’t do it – let’s bring in more slaves and they will appreciate the opportunity to do the work that all us white folks do not want to do”.
Saying we need illegal immigrants to do “all the jobs that white citizens refuse to do” is about as racist as anything I’ve ever heard before. You need to revisit the words of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., who said in his famous “I Have A Dream Speech” in 1963:
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
I welcome any and all legal immigrants into our great country, regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation or country of origin. But they should be judged solely upon the content of their character.
