Bob Lefsetz’s Original Post – “The New York Times Poll”
Gosh, Bob, I don’t know which way to go with your passive/aggressive blog posts over the last month or two.
You RAVE about the character Ferry Bouman and praise his style, demeanor, and behavior, saying stuff like:
“What I like most about Ferry is his ability to stand up to people. We live in a nation, a world, of suck-ups.”
“And that’s what we’re taught in America, for all the veneration of the self-starting entrepreneurs, in truth we’re told over and over again to be a member of the group, not to raise our head, not to say something unpopular, to get along. We’re told that’s where the rewards are. And you might make a living being a cog in the system, but that’s not where the fun is.”
And I do agree with you in that regard. I admire someone who has the ability and the intestinal fortitude to “stand up to people”! And even when you go after Donald Trump, you find similar traits which you seem to admire.
“Why can’t anybody speak the truth? That’s why Trump won in 2016, his fans thought he was speaking to them, their truth, that he was not pandering to the usual suspects.”
“When it’s your money, you play differently. That’s the story of great entrepreneurs like Ahmet Ertegun, Chris Blackwell and Jerry Moss, never mind Jac Holzman. They made it up as they went along. And one thing they all exuded was self-confidence. They didn’t care how anybody else did it, they hewed to the beat of their own drummer, they did it their way.”
That’s certainly true for Donald Trump – he often seems to be making things up as he goes along and he’s got plenty of self-confidence – he did it his way! But then you tell us:
“I don’t want to hear about Trump’s indictments, I don’t want to hear any criticism of Trump. The bottom line is only a few states matter and those states were tight the last time around, and now Biden has a record, upon which Trump can run against, which he didn’t have before.”
“And Trump will whip out the right wing trope. That taxes are too high! Everybody wants to pay lower taxes, but they’re not willing to forgo any services, which is why the debt rose so much under Trump.”
Let’s talk about the truth for a moment. You claim national debt rose “so much” under Trump, and you’re right! In his four years as President, our national debt rose by $7.8 TRILLION dollars. And yet, under Joe Biden’s reign, debt has already risen by $5.2 trillion dollars and at his current rate of spending, will total more than $8.8 trillion dollars and much more if he succeeds in paying off college loans, estimated to cost taxpayers $475 billion dollars over the next ten years, plus aid to Ukraine totaling $76.8 billion and $14.3 to Israel to date.
From ChatGTP:
“According to the U.S. Treasury Department, the national debt as of October 2021 was approximately $28.4 trillion. Projecting this figure forward to January 21, 2025, assuming a continuation of current spending and revenue levels, the national debt is expected to reach approximately $36.2 trillion.”
If you’re going to ask others to “speak the truth”, you should do your homework and try it yourself once in a while. And you go on to tell us:
“That’s my favorite part of the series. When Ferry is caught red-handed, by those well-financed and with a bigger footprint.”
“Most people would wimp out at that point. Beg for mercy. But Ferry bites back, owns his position, pushes his vision down the throat of the superior. He’s got balls. All men have balls, but they’re afraid to whip them out, to show them. But real men do.”
“Ferry Bouman is a real man.”
So a criminal who murders business associates while producing and selling millions of fentanyl pills to bikers and Arab states is a “real man”, but you cannot stop yourself from attacking, insulting, and proselytizing against Donald Trump, even though you admit:
“Voters in battleground states said they trusted Donald J. Trump over President Biden on the economy, foreign policy and immigration, as Mr. Biden’s multiracial base shows signs of fraying.”
“Yeah right, when accused, he’s doubling down. It’s almost like Donald Trump, when attacked they don’t examine the accusation, they just fight back with more strength.”
“They forgot how Trump won. Which was by speaking to the hearts and minds of the dispossessed.”
And you’re “inspired” by Ferry; he’s a “role model” to you!
“They’re grabbing life by the horns, and it’s inspirational.”
“He’s making it up as he goes. He knows what he wants and he’s doing his best to get it. He’d be a role model.”
You should be endorsing Trump and praising his style and manner – he’s a lot like your hero, Ferry Bouman, except he’s not a murderous killer and drug pusher – he’s trying to “Make America Great Again”, against all odds!
“Yeah right, when accused, he’s doubling down. It’s almost like Donald Trump, when attacked they don’t examine the accusation, they just fight back with more strength.”
That IS Donald Trump. You cannot endorse and praise Ferry Bouman and disparage and attack Trump at the same time.
Someday you will wake up and admit that you are NOT a political pundit, but simply an entertaining, witty and informed blogger when you write about what you know best – rock & roll, musicians, records, and even movies and books. That is why people subscribe to your newsletter.
But please stay in your wheelhouse – you’re only embarrassing yourself and offending and annoying your fan base.
Thanks for sharing. I read many of your blog posts, cool, your blog is very good. https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=P9L9FQKY
