Joe Rogan
Bob Lefsetz’s Original Post – “Joe Rogan”
There you go again, Bob!
“Sweden legendarily accepted Jewish refugees during World War II, but that tradition of looking out for your brother and sister obviously hasn’t trickled down to the younger generation. I mean can’t you at least SUSPEND the guy?
But really, you should cut him loose.”
So Spotify should CANCEL Joe Rogan with 11 million listeners per episode just because Sweden accepted Jewish refugees during WWII?
“Spotify paid Joe Rogan at least $200 million to host The Joe Rogan Experience exclusively on its platform,
For Spotify, Rogan’s podcast is a cash cow: It reaches an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, making it the streaming service’s most popular podcast–and its millennial audience closely aligns with Spotify’s target customer.”
Should Dave Chappelle also be canceled from performing concerts or doing Netflix specials or appearing on SNL?
“Jewish rights activist Rudy Rochman called the SNL skit “a meticulous & calculated move to desensitize the population from anti-Semitism” while Time Out New York theater editor Adam Feldman argued, “That Dave Chappelle SNL monologue probably did more to normalize anti-Semitism than anything Kanye said.”
As someone who has a long-standing relationship with Nation of Islam (NOI) leader and notorious antisemite, Lois Farrakhan, it is not surprising that Chappelle vilifies and targets Jews.”
How about Trevor Noah? Should HE be “canceled” by entertainment blogger Bob Lefsetz? Who died and made you the God of the First Amendment?
“Trevor Noah is the perfect example of an influential celebrity who without any ramifications freely spreads both classic antisemitism (on social media) and new antisemitism, disguised as criticism of the State of Israel, to millions of Americans.”
Don’t stop there! If we’re going to cancel and censor Joe Rogan, Dave Chappelle and Trevor Noah, don’t forget to cancel Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota:
“The Democratic party is having a rough time condemning anti-Semitism. Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota has, on several occasions, made classically anti-Semitic claims about American Jews, and the effort to formally denounce those statements in the House ruined a week in which the Democrats were supposed to talk about their agenda.
The gist of Omar’s complaints is that the perfidious, string-pulling Hebraic hordes control Congress with their shady shekels; Israel has hypnotized the world; and American Jews are guilty of dual loyalty.”
House Democrats Finding It Hard to Confront Anti-Semitism
And this is NOT “whataboutism” at all – it’s about equal treatment under our First Amendment. Who are you to judge, condemn and “cancel” some people and ignore the anti-semitic behavior of others?
“The Dodgers fired Al Campanis in 1987 for racist remarks. We’re in the midst of the #MeToo era, but when it comes to Jews, it’s open season, LITERALLY! People keep killing them.
And it’s not only Jews, it’s Asians, and Blacks, statistically anti-Semitic attacks are way up. Spotify could take a stand, but…”
So now you’re going to be the arbiter of who stays and who goes when it comes to entertainers, commentators, comedians, and politicians? Bob Lefsetz will be the Big Brother of all that’s right and wrong and decides who gets canceled and who is allowed to practice their First Amendment right. Where in the Constitution is there any right to NOT be offended by what other people say?
ACLU Legal Director Steven Shapiro told NPR:
“The First Amendment really was designed to protect a debate at the fringes. You don’t need the courts to protect speech that everybody agrees with, because that speech will be tolerated. You need a First Amendment to protect speech that people regard as intolerable or outrageous or offensive — because that is when the majority will wield its power to censor or suppress, and we have a First Amendment to prevent the government from doing that.
Protecting Outrageous, Offensive Speech
“Maybe if the brass at Spotify were minorities they’d understand. You don’t want to be caught driving while Black.”
What do you know about the race, religion, or sexual preferences of the “brass” at Spotify? And why should that matter?
Looks like a lot of diversity at Spotify!
“And I don’t think rehab would work with Rogan, because he’s buoyed by his inane insane followers. Rogan thinks he’s right. Rogan is an uneducated moron who needs to be woken up.”
11,000,000 “insane followers”? An “uneducated moron”? That’s a pretty broad brush you’re working with there. Of course Rogan thinks he’s right. So does Bob Lefsetz, even when he is SO ignorant and dismissive of our First Amendment right to free speech.
How about your superstar Sirius radio fave, Howard – the self-proclaimed “King of All Media” – Stern, who recently said on his show:
“If you don’t get vaccinated, in my America, all hospitals would be closed to you. You’re going to go home and die. That is what you should get. Absolutely.”
Now THERE’S a public policy I’m sure you should promote on your music and entertainment blog! Stern also said this about pop star Sam Smith:
“You know what I like about the guy?” he said. “He’s an ugly motherfucker. He’s fat. Is he gay? He looks gay to me, not that anybody looks gay, but he does seem effeminate.”
The most controversial moments from ‘The Howard Stern Show’
And you’ve done nothing but express love and admiration for Howard Stern, no matter how insulting, offensive or rude he regularly is on his radio show. How about Stern in blackface? Are you cool with that?
“But we’ve got Elon Musk…a businessman with no sense of culture, who should have studied some of the derided liberal arts to get a sense of culture and history. Musk thinks he’s above the law, above reproach, and so far he’s paid no price.”
He’s paid a pretty steep price to try and clean house at Twitter, around $42 BILLION dollars.
“Musk is letting everybody back on Twitter. And it’s not an issue of free speech, Twitter is a private company, it can do what it wants, and now rumors and conspiracies are rampant. You only believe this because wankers like Rogan and Musk spread falsehoods.”
Obviously, Bob Lefsetz is the only purveyor of the truth. You are right that Twitter is a private company, but our federal government also has laws in place that legally prohibit involvement in or the influencing of any and all media companies. And yet, thanks to Elon Musk, he has released evidence of the involvement of the FBI, the Democratic party, the Biden White House, and maybe even the CIA in using Twitter to influence political issues and elections: “The FBI had compensated Twitter to the tune of $3.5 million in exchange for the company doing the bidding of the agency.
FBI TOLD TWITTER TO DELETE PRO-TRUMP TWEETS AND ACCOUNTS
Pressure from staff reportedly led to Dorsey approving the decision to permanently suspend Donald Trump.
One Twitter staffer reported to have compared Trump to the ‘leader of a terrorist group responsible for violence/death comparable to the Christchurch shooter or Hitler.’
The words used to justify Trump’s removal were that he was suspended ‘due to the risk of further incitement of violence.’
“God, you’ve got Republicans even defending 1/6. WHICH WE ALL SAW LIVE IN REAL TIME!”
I’m not about to defend the protests at the Capitol that got out of control and did damage to some of the rooms and furniture therein. They were wrong, illegal, and the people involved should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. And yet, where are the Congressional hearings over the George Floyd riots?
“Many of the more than 1,500 businesses in Minneapolis and St. Paul damaged during last year’s riots following George Floyd‘s killing remain closed, while others are struggling to stay open.
The newspaper also noted that with $500 million in damage to the Twin Cities, protests are the second-costliest civil disturbance in U.S. history behind the 1992 riots in Los Angeles.
More Than 1,500 Minnesota Businesses Damaged in George Floyd Protests
$500 million dollars in damages compared with $1.5 million dollars in damages caused by the January 6th protesters?
“The New York Times ignored 18 deaths, countless injuries and nearly $2 billion in property damage nationwide in an article slamming Republican bills designed to stop what the liberal newspaper considered mostly “peaceful” protests.”
How Many Died as a Result of Capitol Riot?
How many people died as a result of the Capitol demonstrations? Just one – Ashli Babbitt, 35, of San Diego and an Air Force veteran, died on the day of the riot after being shot in the shoulder by a Capitol Police officer. And Congress committed a year and a half to “investigating” January 6th? Perhaps Congress could turn their attention to more important issues that affect the lives of ALL Americans, such as:
“Some 2.7 million migrants—those who illegally entered or were otherwise inadmissible at a port of entry—were encountered at our borders in FY 2022, bringing the total under President Biden to a whopping 5.5 million.”
Or how about record inflation, high gas prices, $100 billion sent to Ukraine, rapidly increasing homelessness, escalating food prices, a national debt of more than $31,552,745,272 TRILLION dollars and climbing – and yet Congress chooses to spend more than a year and a half bitching about January 6th? No wonder Washington can’t get anything done!
I apologize for my long response to your recent blog posts. But your newsletters are never documented – you never do your homework or look beyond your Left Coast woke perspective as you bloviate your political nonsense in a blog that people subscribed to because of your insight and background into the entertainment and rock & roll industry.
If there’s a “wanker” in play here, you should do as Michael Jackson once advised and take a look at “The Man In the Mirror”.
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
Your article helped me a lot, is there any more related content? Thanks!
