“Let’s go Brandon” is NOT about Spotify streams. And it’s certainly not about any kind of “transparency”. If you’re going to hang your hat and base your reputation upon a political chant that was misrepresented by the mainstream drive-by media, you’re going to have about as much credibility as the Billboard charts you criticize.

Chants of “Fuck Joe Biden” were heard at sporting events starting in early September 2021. “Let’s Go Brandon” came into use after NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast misrepresented a chant of “Fuck Joe Biden” by spectators at a NASCAR race as “Let’s go, Brandon” while interviewing driver Brandon Brown after he won the 2021 Sparks 300 at Talladega Superspeedway. The saying has become well known through use by Republican supporters, pundits, and leaders.

Well, it SHOULD matter! But you take angry chants directed at Joe Biden and turn it into some sort of perverse metaphor for the recording industry.
